SIZING A LACROSSE STICK

Even for the youngest players, an adult lacrosse stick is most beneficial. Though, cutting the shaft of that stick is recommended. Here are some tips for correctly making that cut:

  1. Watch the video to the right as it applies to boys & girls stick lengths.
  2. Add another 1 inch to 1-1/2 inch to the cutting point (past shoulder blade) to allow for growth. Mark the cutting point.
  3. Take off shaft endcap. Cut at mark with a sharp hacksaw. Replace shaft endcap.
  4. NOTE: For Riptide Travel play, a minimum stick length of 37" from top to bottom is required. You may want to cut to that length to extend the life of the stick for your player.

DID YOU KNOW THAT BOYS AND GIRLS LACROSSE STICKS ARE DIFFERENT?

Boys sticks have pockets that the ball sits in. Girls sticks have virtually no pocket. Try catching with a girls stick or throwing with a boys stick.  It is very different. If your son is having an easier time catching than your daughter, there is a reason. If you have a daughter playing,  please get a girls stick to toss around with her.
