The Rides

START/END LOCATION ARE TBD.  WE WILL MOST LIKELY TRY AND START FROM ONE OF THE SCHOOLS, EACH RIDE MAY BE DIFFERENT.  EITHER WAY IT WILL ALL BE IN TOWN AND WE WILL UPDATE YOU BEFORE THE RIDE.

We will have a variety of rides happening for each group each week.  It will most likely be the case that each week will be something a little different.  Starting points may change each week but not by much, if at all. From experience the best rides happen when you let things flow. We will certainly have an idea of what the planned route will be, but keeping it fluid to ensure an enjoyable experience.

Some of the places we will ride (age and ability dependent):

  • Course Location Starts
  • All of the Hampton school campuses
  • Our quiet roads
  • Our busier roads - in a controlled manner for the older groups. They need to learn how to ride busy roads properly and we will train them. This is a life skill. 3 hours before I wrote this a teenager on a BMX bike was riding against traffic, 5 feet out from the shoulder oblivious that he was headed straight into me.
  • Tuck Field
  • The Rail Trail North (from Depot Square)
  • The Rail Trail South (from behind the Post Office or on Drakeside Road)
  • The Cemetery - Yes, you read that correctly.  Our High Street Cemetery is an absolute hidden gem as a place to ride.
  • Whites Lane - There is hunting in 90% of the area September 15 - December 15. We will only ride in very specific small zones that are clear of hunters as per state laws.
  • Victory Garden (west end of Barbour Road)
  • The Skate Park
  • Batchelder Park
  • The town land abutting the west side of The James House Historical location
  • We might be able to set up a Cyclocross Course. Details to follow
  • There may be potential for a few night rides (it will be dark at 5pm before you know it) at Whites Lane for grades 5-8. More mountain biking on the Seacoast gets done at night than during the day. Strange but true.
