The Hampton Youth Association wants to acknowledge the difficulties that we all face during these unprecedented times. The HYA Board and the SAU 90 School Board did not take the decision to offer basketball lightly. The ability to conduct the season (and in what form) may change, and we ask the public to understand that our all-volunteer staff is doing the best they can to help support you and your family. In the event that circumstances change regarding Covid in our community, HYA is ready and willing to suspend and/or cancel the season. The safety of our community is at the forefront of any decision regarding basketball going forward.
Among the safety measures that will be put into place are:
Friday, Oct. 23rd: Registration Opens for 5th/6th and 7th/8th
Saturday, Oct. 31st: Registration closes
Friday, Nov. 20th: Teams finalized, players notified by coaches
Week of Dec. 7th: 1st week of practices
Week of Dec. 14th: 2nd week of practices
Sat, Jan 9th through Sat, Feb 13th: Regular Season Games
Possibility of playoffs after February Vacation to be determined
REGISTRATION: OPENS on October 23rd. CLOSES on October 31st.
$40 -5th - 8th grade for boys and girls programs
$100 - Family Cap (3 siblings or more)
REFUND POLICY: DUE TO COVID-19
We must all acknowledge the strong possibility that part or even all of the season may have to be cancelled on a moment's notice. HYA has worked to reduce the price from $70 to $40 per player, and has established the following refund policy:
Refunds will be made to credit/debit cards used at registration.
Our mission is to teach the great game of basketball in an instructional, enjoyable, team-oriented manner. Our league is for beginning, maturing and experienced skill levels while playing with friends, old and new, in a fun, yet competitive atmosphere!
HYA Basketball is truly a community effort. From our volunteer parent coordinators and coaches to our great sponsors. We are fortunate to have their support and it enables us to help keep local recreational basketball affordable for families. Please be sure to thank them!
WE DO NOT TAKE REQUESTS. Unless for specific medical reasons/physical limitations and coaches looking to work together. Personal requests make rostering difficult for coordinators who aim to please everyone. Please keep in mind that great efforts are made to ensure rosters are properly balanced and that no matter what team your child is placed on we guarantee he or she will have FUN!
Basic guidelines for properly balanced teams are as follows:
Families with 3 or more players participating are capped at $100. In order for the registration system to recognize that your family is registering multiple players, please register all of your players at this time. On the Review Page, there is a link near the bottom to “Register Another Player” - please click on this link to ensure that all of your family’s players are registered within the same order. Failure to do so will result in improper processing of the family discount rate in the system.
The success of the HYA Basketball is dependent on our parent volunteer coaches. We look to provide one Head Coach and one or more Assistant Coaches per team. No experience is needed as we will provide you with all the tools necessary to help guide our young players. Above all else - ENTHUSIASM - is all a good coach needs to be productive. If interested, please indicate so when the registration asks. We value our coaches highly and are grateful year in and year out for their time and dedication. Thanks in advance.
